Wisdom Teeth Removal in Airdrie

What Confucius Say About Your Wisdom Teeth

“To know what you know and to know what you don’t know, that is real wisdom.” – Confucius

There are a lot of myths surrounding “wisdom teeth”, some true and some not-so-true.

For example, did you know that 35% of the population is actually born without them? The debate goes on as to whether this is evolution or culture.

Humans no longer need these teeth for survival as they once did.  However, some researchers have looked into the link between how different cultures use their jaws, and whether or not they have teeth. For example, in parts of East Asia, it’s more common to find people without wisdom teeth. (Source – Oral Surgery of Utah)

Have you met with your dentist to determine if you have wisdom teeth? If you do, do you need to have your wisdom teeth removed? The assessment is easy and painless for you.

If you do have them and it’s determined you would be better off without them, don’t be nervous.  There are many different types of sedation patients can choose for the procedure. You can select from being “lightly sedated” with laughing gas, taking a pill, to being completely asleep with IV sedation. You’ll have no memory of the appointment!

So, if you know you have the wisdom teeth, but know you don’t know if they should come out…you do have the wisdom to seek advice from a dentist to decide what to do. Confucius would be very proud of your wisdom!
